The KTM adventure began in 1934, when Hans Trunkenpolz founded a repair shop in Mattighofen, Upper Austria. Three years later, the workshop started selling DKW motorcycles, expanded and became one of the largest car and motorcycle garages in the country.

In 1951, the company began developing its own motorcycle, the KTM R 100, which went into production two years later. From that moment on, KTM became interested in motorcycle racing, which led to numerous successes
