How to do a good break-in on your DIRT BIKE?
When you receive your Pit Bike, the engine is new, its gears are new, its gearboxes, clutches, pistons and other parts need to be broken in (get used to) because they rub together.
A running-in is therefore essential to oil and perfect the surface condition of all its engine parts
To start a good break-in, we recommend you to change the engine oil as soon as the first 20 minutes of the start-up, it allows to eliminate the excess of micr-limit, lubrication of the chain.
During a period of 2 fill-ups, make sure to drive at half throttle and then during 1 fill-up at 3/4 throttle.
Once these 3 fill-ups are completed, drain your engine again, and your break-in is over, the engine is ready, you can go!
WHAT GASOLINE SHOULD I USE for a 4 STROKE Dirt Bike/PIT BIKE?
Use unleaded 95 or 98
The octane level (95 or 98); the higher it is, the fatter the gasoline! The 95 burns a little more easily than the 98 but it greases a little less! So prefer the 95 (attention the new 95 E10 are richer in octane, in this case the 98 is advised).
Which oil to use ON YOUR DIRT BIKE/PIT BIKE :
10W40 100% Synthetic is preferred, but 1/2 synthetic is also suitable. Check the oil level regularly, we remind you that a lack of engine oil leads to engine drying and can damage it
What technical checks should be carried out ?
First of all, you should check if the gasoline is going down to the carburetor, that you don't have a pinched hose. That the hose clamps are properly installed and that your hoses are fully engaged.
To start your motorcycle, you need to create compression, so slowly lower your kick ten times, then kick at the compression point.
If you don't have much compression, check your valve setting, 0.05 intake, 0.07 exhaust.
During your break-in, a carburetor adjustment may be necessary depending on your driving style
- 1: Adjust your richness screw. To do this, tighten your screw all the way and loosen it by 2 turns or 2.5 turns max.
- 2: Play with the notches of your needle in your bushel. Depending on your needs and your riding, move the needle down or up a notch. If by moving the needle up or down, the bike's behavior is more in line with your needs, you are on the right track.
A check of your timing will be necessary. To do this, make sure that your timing ring is at the mark (9 o'clock), and that your T mark on the ignition is at 12 o'clock.
Maintenance
Dirt bike/pit bike chain tension
It is essential to check the chain tension on your Pit Bike/Dirt Bike after or before each session. Always tension it so that there is a good finger distance between the swingarm pad and the chain when a person is sitting on the mini.
If your chain gets loose too often, opt for Pit Bike chains D.I.D

Maintenance of the chain:
Use a suitable lubricant after each wash, we recommend Valvoline maintenance products. Every 4 rides, dismantle the chain and soak it overnight in gasoline, then clean it with a brush, blow it off, wipe it and lubricate it again.

Tightening the crown
The crown is fixed with four bolts, these are subject to great stress, check their tightening regularly and as a preventive measure fix them with threadlocker.

Radiation Control:
After each session, systematically check the tension of your spokes, because loose spokes can cause a hub to break !
Take the pipette as a reference and from 2 to 2 screw the even spokes without forcing, do the same for the odd spokes. Avoid over tightening.
Tire pressure:
The pressure of the cross country tires in Dirt Bike/Pit Bike should not be below 1bar, indeed a low pressure increases the risk of puncture of your tube.
The pressure of a front or rear Dirt Bike tire (10/12/14/17) is recommended between 1.3 bar and 1.9 bar depending on your use. For a mixed use/amateur you can put 1,6 bar before/rear.
We also recommend that you use a rear wheel gripster to prevent a flat tire at the valve.

Wheel bearings :
A wheel bearing with play can weaken a wheel axle or hub. To check them, simply take the wheel (attached to the mini) with two hands and exert an effort to try to feel the play. If there is some, even minimal, do not hesitate to change them. The reference of your bearings is written on the bearing (6202z standard bearing on the original rims in 15mm axis).

Brake Kit, Dirt Bike Braking, Pit bike:
Brake pads are a regular wear part, check your braking for your safety regularly and change them when the pad is worn to 3mm of materialto avoid premature wear of your brake discs.
After each ride, clean the brake pads well (mud is an important wear factor). For a better braking, clean your discs regularly to eliminate greasy materials.
Wheel alignment of your dirt bike/pit bike:
the alignment of your rear wheel is very important. Indeed, a bad alignment causes a friction of the pads on the disc which causes a heating of the caliper and the brake fluid.
MAINTENANCE OF YOUR DIRT BIKE/PIT BIKE AIR FILTER:
It is the lung of your engine, it is advised to clean it after each session. There is a specific product for this maintenance to be used in several stages which consist of a degreasing and cleaning of the filter and then an impregnation of a liquid ''dust trap''. The ideal is to have a reserve air filter.
We recommend the UNI Air Fitlre available on Mini MX:

Lubrication of the accelerator and clutch cables of dirt bike/pit bike :
A rusty cable is a weakened cable, grease your cables regularly as well as that of the clutch in order to guarantee you the good functioning of your gas handle and clutch lever. A good maintenance guarantees you a good functioning and will prolong their lifespan
Inject a wd40 type lubricant into the sheath with a cable grease.
You can also use cable lubrication:

Dirt bike/pit bike swingarm tightening:
Check the tightening of the swingarm regularly as well as the shock absorber fixings; you can fix them with a threadlocker. Regular lubrication of your swingarm axle is important; also check the play. Also check the swingarm spacers.
Motor clamp and footrest support :
You will notice that the motor is held in place by only two long shafts called motor support shafts. They are very important and must be tightened after each session. A loose or over-tightened pin can cause damage and cracks to the motor housing. Be careful not to overtighten.
Cleaning the fork of your pit bike/dirt bike:
Dried mud damages the spy seals which causes the fork to bleed.
Clean your fork tubes after each wash and spray with cleaner to lubricate the tubes and spy. From time to time, lift the wiper seals, spray with lubricant and replace them.
Drainage of the 4-stroke engine of dirt bike/pit bike:
Valid for all 4-stroke engines of any capacity (Lifan, YX, Loncin, Ducar, Zongshen, Daytona, takegawa, Goniuy, Bull...)
As previously mentioned, during the break-in period, be sure to drain your engine after the first 20 minutes of use. Then a second oil change at the end of the break-in period.
Thereafter, change the oil every 20 hours of use (between six and ten sessions maximum). As there is no oil filter except on the last 149cc YX and 150cc YX, the filings go around and can make damages. There are two screws to undo under the engine, the bigger one is the one where the oil will flow out and the smaller one is the one where the strainer is located and which also serves as a push rod for the timing chain tensioner. Remove the strainer and clean it, screw it back on and fill it with a quality oil 100% synthetic for four-stroke engines.
We recommend VALVOLINE oils:

Checking of the cockpit (Handlebar, Lever, Handle, Pull):
For your safety, check the tightening of the handlebar clamps as well as the fork tees, check the tightening of the lever caps which must remain "free", therefore not to tighten too much, so that the unit can swivel in the event of fall.
Checking the tightening of the dirt bike/pit bike exhaust pipe:
The muffler is one of the parts that feels the most vibration, these screws and other rivets can come loose, so it is important to check that your muffler is secure. The muffler wires can also get damaged, once damaged you need to change your cartridge.
Check the two screws at the cylinder outlet often enough.
Dirt bik/pit bike chain guide:
The chain guide is a part that takes a lot of shocks and is in regular contact with the ground (ruts for example).
It prevents the chain from shifting and derailing. It is an important part to check and change.
Part Number: P0533, P534

Checking the crankcase screws :
With engine vibration, you may lose crankcase screws. Check all screws regularly, but do not overtighten them.
Which spark plug to choose for your dirt bike/pit bike:
The grade of the original candle is a basic grade for example take a candle of grade 7 if you take a candle of grade 6 or less your candle will be hotter and if you take a candle of 8 or more your candle will be colder According to the seasons it is sometimes good to change your candles.
For Lifan and YX engines from 88cc to 160cc we recommend NGK CR7HIX

How to change the fork oil on a dirt bike/pit bike?
First of all, you should know that low-end forks are equipped with springs, so the oil is just used to lubricate.
As part of a better quality fork you can play on the thickness of the oil to make your fork more or less hard.
To do this, disassemble your front wheel and then disassemble each fork arm individually, then unscrew the top of the arm completely and then turn it upside down and let the oil flow. Once drained fill to about 10 cm from the top and close! Reassemble everything. You can for example fill it with oil 10w 180 ml per sleeve
Bleeding brakes on a dirt bike/pit bike:
Here is an explanatory tutorial to bleed your brake. However, you should know that it is sometimes better to change your complete brake kit:
